Titia de Lange
Tampilan

[sunting | sunting sumber]- “The more I thought about it, the more I saw that there was a real problem with chromosome ends, and it was beginning to look like an impossible issue for nature to deal with. The problem is that we have linear chromosomes, they have ends, and those ends look like broken DNA, but the cell should not treat them like broken DNA.”The more I thought about it, the more I saw that there was a real problem with chromosome ends, and it was beginning to look like an impossible issue for nature to deal with. The problem is that we have linear chromosomes, they have ends, and those ends look like broken DNA, but the cell should not treat them like broken DNA.[2]
- “Once DNA replication was understood, it became obvious that the ends of chromosomes presented a problem. It’s like painting a floor. You can’t paint directly under your feet.“Setelah replikasi DNA dipahami, menjadi jelas bahwa ujung-ujung kromosom menimbulkan masalah.
- “Our work on telomeres has been a source of excitement and wonder. The mechanism by which shelterin and t-loops solve the telomere end-protection problem combines beautiful simplicity with clever complexity. I am fortunate to have this fascinating subject to study and am deeply honored by this recognition from the ASMB.“Penelitian kami tentang telomer telah menjadi sumber kegembiraan dan kekaguman.
- “Eukaryotes all have linear chromosomes and it’s not clear why or how that happened.“Semua eukariota memiliki kromosom linier dan belum jelas mengapa atau bagaimana hal itu terjadi.[5]
- “Short telomeres are linked to genome instability and play roles in cancer and inherited diseases“Telomer yang pendek dikaitkan dengan ketidakstabilan genom dan berperan dalam kanker serta penyakit keturunan.[6]
